BILL DOGGETT and ELLA FITZGERALD had a life and career long relationship.
After Chick Webb's death, Bill Doggett became Ella's most important collaborator as her pianist, arranger and Music Director 1943-44, arranger and collaborator on her 1951-52 Big Hits, Smooth Sailing, Rough Riding and Tea Leaves and her 1962 "Stereo Demonstration Record" Rhythm is My Business.
